DuraLabel LabPRO - Commonly Resolved Issues
Not Printing:
If your DuraLabel printer is not printing, there are several likely causes, either due to the hardware, software configuration or printing settings:
- Cable is not well connected to the serial or USB interface port – Make sure all connections between the printer and your PC are firmly established.
- Printer Drivers not properly installed on PC – Make sure to install all printer drivers from the included DuraLabel software disc. Once drivers are installed, select the printer in the Print dialog box of your word processor and make sure printer properties are properly set for your labeling applications.
- Ribbon or supply incompatible, improperly loaded or printer settings are incorrect – make sure the ribbon and supply are compatible, then check if the ribbon is loaded with ribbon-inked side facing the correct way. Reload the ribbon as necessary. Print Density is set incorrectly – If the density is set too light, no printing will appear on the supply. Adjust the printer's printing density and test the printer.
Poor Print Quality:
If your printer is printing but producing undesired results, there are several issues that may be resolved with simple maintenance or adjustments.
- Ribbon and supply are loaded incorrectly – make sure the ink side of the ribbon is facing the supply. Make sure the supply is loaded to properly distribute through the printer.
- Print head dirty or damaged – Clean the platen roller and print head for dust, which may cause spotting in the printing. If problem persists, run the printer self-test to see if there are burnt out printer dots.
Labels come out wrinkled:
Wrinkling may occur in your labels if printer settings are adjusted incorrectly or if the ribbon and supply are loaded incorrectly.
- Print head pressure, print density or media feeding is set incorrectly – If print head pressure and print density are set excessively, the supply is given little room to pass through the printer, causing it to back up and wrinkle. Reduce the print head pressure and density to allow the supply to pass.
- Ribbon and Supply set incorrectly – Make sure label, paper core and ribbon are installed correctly and the ribbon and label guides are adjusted to touch both edges of the supplies.
Irregular Printing Caused by Hex Dump mode:
- If your DuraLabel printer is printing lines of random letters and numbers, it is in Hex Dump mode. To exit Hex dump mode, turn the printer off and on.
