DuraLabel PRO FAQ's
PRINTER / DRIVER INSTALLATION QUESTIONS
I'm having trouble getting the printer
driver installed.
Check to make sure
you have administrative rights on your computer.
Many computer users confuse Administrative Rights with the ability to
use the machine. In order to find out if you actually have
Administrative Rights, do the following:
Click Start>>>Settings>>>Control Panel.
Double click users and find out which
group your log on name falls in. If it doesn't
say "Administrators", then you don't have
the ability to install a DuraLabel PRO printer
driver to your system and will need to call
your IT department to install it.
I get an error when I insert the DuraLabel PRO CD. (The error may say the mscoree.dll file is missing.)
The DuraLabel PRO install CD uses the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 to run. If the .NET Framework is not installed on your computer, an error will apopear when the CD is inserted. This error usually says that the .NET Framework is not installed, but sometimes it says that mscoree.dll is missing. In either case, this error can be solved by installing the .NET Framework. A copy of the Microsoft .NET Framework has been provided on the DuraLabel PRO CD.
Go to start>>>run and enter D:\dotnetfx.exe, where D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive. When the installation completes, the DuraLabel PRO CD can be run as normal.
SUPPLY INSTALLATION
DuraLabel specialty supplies come in a cartridge.
How is the cartridge installed?
Instructions for installing the DuraLabel cartridge are available in a PDF document: speciality supplies quick start or view the DuraLabel PRO Speciality Supplies Installation video.
ERROR MESSAGES
Sometimes the DLP will
print a label, cut, and cycle between red
and green lights. What is the problem?
While it may appear green, the DLP is actually flashing Red and Yellow.
The "Yellow" is made up of the red and green lights lit at the same time. From
certain angles, it will appear green. This is the code for
an RFID error.
If you suspect the DuraLabel PRO is not detecting the supplies installed in the printer, do the following:
Print an 8 in. long label. It can even be a blank label so that nothing actually prints and no supplies are used (just roll the tape back into the printer). Then use these guides to determine the problem:
If the light stays green for the majority of the time the label is printing, and then flashes amber and red, then the tape in the printer was not detected.
If the light begins flashing amber and red before the label is done printing, but all of the label still prints, then there is a problem with detecting the supplies. First try reinitializing the printer (see below). If that does not work please call your Graphic Products customer service representative.
If the label does not print completely, or you get an error other than a red and amber light, then the problem is something else. Possibly the gap/media sensor needs to be reset or the driver is set to print labels with gaps instead of continuous vinyl.
Reinitializing The Printer: To reset the gap/media sensor the printer should reinitialized. Turn off the printer; wait five seconds; hold down the button on top; turn on the printer and release the button when the light flashes red.
OPERATING QUESTIONS
The tape sticks to
the cutter and peels back as the label
is printed.
Thoroughly clean the cutting mechanism
with the alcohol swabs provided. Sometimes
adhesive residue can build up during
cutting, and that can cause the tape
to stick as it passes through the
cutter. Proper cleaning will help prevent
this. It may also be helpful to carefully
apply a small amount of silicone to
the cutter. However, care
must be taken not to get any on the
print head. Additionally,
the 3.0 mil vinyl is less susceptible
to this problem than the 2.0 mil vinyl.
What do I do when the ribbon
feeds out of the front of the printer with the vinyl labels?
Lower the print density setting. When the print density is too high the
ribbon sticks to the labels and is pulled out through the front of the
printer. Lowering the print density will keep the ribbon from sticking
to the labels.
What do I
do about small spots in the printing?
Small particles of dust and dirt on the surface of the tape supply
can prevent the ribbon from transferring properly, leaving small spots
in the printed area. Keep the ribbon and tape supply as clean as possible
and avoid printing in a dusty area. It is also possible that tiny dimples
in the surface of the tape supply can prevent the ribbon from transferring.
This is rare and usually affects just a few feet out of any roll.
Increasing the print density can improve results.
How do I reverse the
colors of the pictures and text for the
DuraLabel templates or labels I create?
- Highlight the text and then change the font from Automatic to White.
- Select the Text Box. Right-Click the border of Text Box and select Format Text Box.
- Change the Fill Color from No Fill to Black.
