Brady HandiMark Upgrade Instructions

Windows 95/98, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP
Pro
1. Be sure your Brady HandiMark is turned
off. Make sure AC power is available, or the battery
in the Brady HandiMark is fully charged.
2. Connect the cable (part #42004) to the
com port located on the back of your PC using the
9 pin male connector. The other end of the cable needs
to be connected to the phone style connector on your
Brady HandiMark..
3. Locate the Upgrd32.exe file. If you downloaded
this file from the internet, you will need to know
the location where it was saved. If you received it
on a CD-ROM or floppy disk, put that disk in the appropriate
drive.
4. Run the Upgrd32.exe file.
5. The Brady HandiMark Printer Upgrade Wizard
will appear.
7. Place your Brady HandiMark in upgrade mode
by holding down the ENTER key while turning the Brady
HandiMark power on. A message saying: "START
UPGRADE UTILITY ON PC" should appear.
8. On your computer, click on NEXT on the
Printer Upgrade Wizard.
9. You'll be asked to identify the serial
port that is being used. The SERIAL PORT should be
COM 1. If an error message appears that says"CHECK
PRINTER AND PC COM SETTINGS AND MAKE SURE PRINTER
IS IN UPGRADE MODE" this indicates a different
COM port is being used. Try selecting COM 2.
10. On your computer, click NEXT. It may take
a few moments for the next screen to appear.
11. Click FINISH. The Brady HandiMark operating
system will now upgraded. This may take up to eight
minutes. When the upgrade is complete your computer
will display a message that says, "UPGRADE WAS
SUCCESSFUL"
12. Click OK.
13. Turn the Brady HandiMark off and then
turn it back on again back on again. This will cause
it to load the new operating system. The operating
system should be identified as Version 1.09 in the
scroll of information during start up.
