LEDS in K5100 printer

The internal Ni-Cd battery charger operates when the AC adapter is connected to the K5100 printer. The normal complete charge cycle for fully discharged batteries is approximately eight (8) hours.

There are three LEDs at the front of the printer that show the status of the internal battery charger. The following table gives the meaning of various combinations of LEDs:

Charge Phase Left LED (Green) Middle LED (Red) Right LED (Green)
No Ni-Cd Battery Detected Off Off Off
Battery Detected Fast Flash Off Off
Soft Start Charge Slow Flash Off Off
Charging On Slow Flash Off
Topping Charge On Fast Flash Off
Charge Complete On Off On
Error Fast Flash Off Fast Flash

The image to the left shows the location of the LEDs.

When the two green LED's are ON, the charge cycle is complete and the AC adapter can be disconnected.

If the error indicator is present, the batteries should be replaced.
