The keyboard is used to enter text
and to access menus. You will hear an audible click
whenever a key is depressed. The most often used keys
on the keyboard are described here.
 Function Keys (File, Font,
Size, Style Repeat)
These
keys will display a list of options to choose from.
When using some function keys, the printer will display
submenus or prompt you for information. These function
keys also act as "toggles" that allow you
to turn an option on or off.
 The Alt Key
This
key provides access to special character symbols that
are shown in blue next to some keys. In the image to
the left two special character symbols are circled in
red.
To enter a special character hold
down the ALT key and press the key next to the special
character you wish to include on the label. For example,
to type a less than symbol hold down the ALT key and
push the letter "Y".
The ALT key is also used to abort
a print job. Hold down the ALT key and push the PRINT
key to stop a print job.
 Cursor (Arrow) Keys
The
cursor keys move the cursor through text without changing
it, and through options without selecting an option.
The left and right cursor keys move the cursor left
and right one option or character at a time. The up
and down cursor keys move the cursor up and down through
lines of text, one line at a time.
When used while holding down the SHIFT
key, the up and down cursor keys act as PAGE UP (previous
label) and PAGE DOWN (next label) keys.
When used while holding down the SHIFT
key, the left and right cursor keys move the cursor
one word at a time.
 The Caps Key
The
CAPS key works the same way as the CAPS LOCK key on
a computer key board. It locks capital letters on. Pressing
the CAPS key again turns off the function.
The CAPS key does not effect the number
keys.
 The Del Key
This key provides several functions.
It allows you to cancel functions or escape (exit) from
menus. When editing text, it will delete the character
to the left of thecursor. A complete line can be deleted
by placing the cursor on the line to be deleted; holding
down the ALT key and then pushing the DEL key.
The Enter Key
When in typing mode, pushing the ENTER
key moves the text or thecursor to the next line.
In function mode, the ENTER key selects
specific menu options, file names and default printer
settings.
The Feed Key
The FEED key (green ellipse below)
advances the tape through the printer.
The
Print Key
Pressing the PRINT key (blue circle
in the image to the left) prints the label and advances
the tape far enough so that the text clears the cutter.
The Shift Key
The SHIFT key (red circle above) capitalizes
individual letters. It also accesses the black characters
on the number keys such as the ? (purple circle) on
the zero key.
Pushing the SHIFT and FILE keys at
the same time clears the text, allowing you to create
a new label.
