Entering Text
Typing in the text for your labels is almost the
same as typing on a computer. This, and the next few
following pages, discuss functions in the 9600Ki that
effect typing and formatting of text.
Insert Key
Normally, text is entered with the Insert Mode. In
other words, the text you type is inserted into any
existing text at the cursor's position. However, by
exiting Insert Mode, the text you type replaces any
existing text at the cursor's position.
When
the 9600Ki is in Insert Mode, the INS indicator on
the left side of the display comes on.
To enter Insert Mode, press the "INSERT"
key.
To exit Insert Mode (start type over), press the
"INSERT" key. The INS indicator on the display
will go off.
Space Bar
The space bar adds blank spaces between characters
in your text.
Shift Key
Lowercase letters can be entered by pressing their
keys. Upper case letters can be entered in either
of two ways.
Hold down the SHIFT key and press the letter you
want to be in upper case. For the number and symbol
keys, this will type the symbol on the upper portion
of the key.
Caps Key
The second method for typing capital letters is to
push the "CAPS" key. This allows you to
type upper case letters continuously without holding
down the Shift key.
When the CAPS key is pressed, the Caps indicator
on the display will come on.
