Tape cassettes are available in a variety of types, colors and sizes, enabling you to make distinctive color-coded and stylized labels. Label cassettes are also available for expanded addressing and filing capabilities. The 9600Ki has been designed to make changing cassettes quick and easy.

Open cassette cover

To change cassettes:

1 ) Press the cover release button (shown to the right). Lift open the tape compartment cover.

2 ) If a tape cassette is already installed and you wish to replace it, remove it by pulling it straight up and out of the tape compartment.

tighten the ribbon

3 ) If the ink ribbon is loose in the tape cassette to be installed, use your finger (shown to the right) to wind the toothed wheel in the direction of the arrow on the cassette until there is no slack in the ribbon.

Also, make sure the end of the tape feeds under the tape guides.

NOTE

9600KI User Notes For stamp and label cassettes, tightening the ink ribbon does not apply, since they do not have ink ribbons.

Disconnect AC adapter If you are using a new tape cassette provided with a stopper, be sure to remove the stopper.

Inserting the cassette

4 ) Insert the tape cassette firmly into the tape compartment (show to the right), making sure the entire back of the cassette touches the bottom of the compartment.

NOTE

9600KI User Notes When inserting the tape cassette, make sure the inner ribbon does not catch on the corner of the metal guide.

5 ) Close the compartment cover. If the 9600Ki is off, press the on/off button to turn the 9600Ki on. The width of the currently installed tape is shown by the tape width indicator on the left edge of the display. It is circled in red, and indicating a one inch width tape, in the image below.

6 ) Press the Feed & Cut button once to remove any slack in the tape and cut off the excess.
