KSun 9600Ki Tutorial - Setting Font Size

Table of Contents - Setting Fonts - Size Function - Width Function

Size Function (SIZE)

The character size can be adjusted using the Size function. With the AUTO setting, the 9600Ki compares the text with the width of the installed tape and automatically adjusts the characters to the largest possible size.

The following table shows the maximum size text that can be used with each tape width.

Tape Width MAX. Text Size
(In Points)
1/4" (6mm) 12
3/8" ( mm) 20
1/2" (12 mm) 28
3/4" (18 mm) 40
1" (24 mm) 64
1-1/2" (36 mm) 76
NOTE

9600KI User Notes With the AUTO setting selected and the text in a block consisting of just one line of only uppercase letters (and no accented letters), and written horizontally/vertically without the BERMUDA font, the text is printed slightly larger than the maximum possible for the tape width.

9600KI User Notes If a font setting of 5 or less is selected, the text will be printed using the BRUSSELS font, regardless of the font setting that is selected.

Character size may be changed globally, for a block, or for individual lines.

To change the character size:

1 ) Place the cursor in the block or line of text to be formatted (this is not required for global formatting).

2 ) Hold down the CODE key and press either the GLOBAL, BLOCK or LINE keys.

NOTE

9600KI User Notes This step may be skipped if the settings for several format functions are being applied at the same time.

3 ) Press the left/right cursor keys until SIZE is displayed. The setting for the text at the cursor's current position is shown in the smaller print, at the bottom right of the display ("Auto" in the example below) and a sample can be seen on the right side of the display.

Size display

4 ) Select the desired size, or the AUTO setting, using the up/down cursor keys. When you are finished selecting settings, push the RETURN key to apply the size setting.

To return to the text without making any changes, push the CANCEL key.

NOTE

9600KI User Notes If "*****" appears as a setting, the Size function has already been applied to part of the current text. For example:

A line in the current block has a SIZE set, and the Block or Global format function is being set.

OR

A block has a SIZE set, and the Global Format function is being set.

Changing the setting will cancel the setting that was previously applied.

9600KI User Notes To return the function to its default setting (AUTO), press the space bar.

9600KI User Notes To apply several format settings, continue to use the left/right and up/down cursor keys to make selections until you have selected all of the desired settings.

Only after all settings have been selected should the RETURN key be pushed to apply those settings.

9600KI User Notes To make sure the entered text will fit within a label with a specific length, select the AUTO Size setting and specify a text block length equal to the desired label length minus the width of the left and right margins.

The text will be printed with the largest possible character size.

Example: To make a label four inches long, with a margin of 0.2 inch on both sides, specify a block length of 3.6 inches.

1 ) Hold down the CODE key and press the GLOBAL key.

2 ) Use the left/right cursor keys to select T. LENGTH. Then press the up/down cursor keys to select AUTO.

3 ) Press the left/right cursor keys to select T. MARGIN, and then use the up/down cursor keys to specify a width of 0.2 inches.

4 ) Press the RETURN key.

5 ) Hold down the CODE key and press the BLOCK key.

6 ) Use the left/right cursor keys to select the B. LENGTH option. Then use the up/down cursor keys to specify a length of 3.6 inches.

7 ) Push the RETURN key.
