Graphic Products is now a dealer of three battery-powered, handheld labelers from Brother®. The three printers include the Brother P-touch EDGE™ PT-7600, the P-touch EDGE™PT-7500, and the P-touch PT-7100.

Two printer models, the PT-7600 and the PT-7500, models are branded as P-touch EDGE™ labelers. The P-touch EDGE™ PT-7600 has one nice advantage: it connects to computers for downloading label templates, company logos, and other graphics onto the printer. Both models print on five different tape widths: 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" and 1”. Notable features of the PT-7600/PT-7500 include:

Large 62 point print size

Prints up to 2 lines of text and graphics

164 industrial symbols

The third handheld printer, the P-touch PT-7100, prints on four tape widths: 9/64", 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". Notable features of the PT-7100 include:

Uses up to 24 point print size

Prints up to 7 lines of text and graphics

Built-in library of 107 industrial symbols

The Brother® handheld label printers are good for printing on really small tape widths, so they effectively create smaller labels like wire markers and cable markers. Of course, for printed labels up to 2" in width, then you must check out the new DuraLabel 2000 Handheld Label Printer.

Related Posts:

DuraLabel 2000: Auto-size It
Laboratory Labels

But what's the difference?

With the DuraLabel 2000, a new handheld label printer, there is one feature (among many) that makes it stand out from other handheld label printers: the auto-size feature for text and images.

The auto-size feature on the DuraLabel 2000 exists to simplify and quicken the label designing process. Auto-size automatically adjusts the size of the text and images to fill the entire label area (whether the label consists of one line or many lines). With auto-size enabled on the DuraLabel 2000, the need to manually input the size for each line on a label is eliminated, allowing the user to by-pass an exhaustive and unnecessary ‘guess-and-check’ sizing process often required when designing labels with other printers such as the HandiMark. No matter what size of supply is used, the DuraLabel 2000 recognizes the supply size once it's loaded and automatically auto-sizes inputted text and images so you don't have to.

With the DuraLabel 2000, simply type in the label's message and then hit "PRINT." It's simple, and the label design process is much faster. The result is a nice, bold, readable label!

Related posts:

Official DuraLabel 2000 press release
The DuraLabel 2000, Graphic Products Does It Again.
DuraLabel's new hand held printer provides portable performance

While the most important issue here is lives lost, another issue is the associated economic loss for not only families of fall victims but for organizations.

But there is hope. With the right preparedness, most of these cases can be avoided.

An article entitled "Prevention of Slips, Trips, and Falls" in the April 2008 issue of Facility Safety Management magazine references the Canadian Centre for Occupational Safety and Health, which suggests three general ways to avoid slips, trips, and falls from happening:

Understand how fall accidents happen

Identify trouble areas

Eliminate or minimize hazards of falling

The article goes on to give specific examples and provide more detail, but by simply applying proper safety signs and labels to areas and surfaces where these types of accidents occur, many of these types of accidents can be prevented.

DuraLabel offers many supply options to assist you in safeguarding your employees from slips, trips, and falls. And secondly, DuraLabel wants to prevent your organization from suffering economically as a result of this type of tragedy.

Effective label and sign-making supplies for preventing slips, trips, and falls include:

DuraTag Supply (as shown in the "CAUTION: Slippery When Wet" sign above)

Phosphorescent Supply (for emergency backup when light sources fail)

Continuous Vinyl Supply (for general safety label and sign-making tasks)

DuraLabel: Click... Print... Solve!

For quite a while now, you have not seen or reported an accident or injury in the workplace, and you certainly have not seen any litigation as a result of your negligence to maintaining a safe workplace environment. Congratulations on a job well done! You must be doing everything right... right? Certainly, recent history has been your advocate. But have you considered that you might be getting by on sheer luck and fortunate happenstance?

Beware the perils of complacency!

During times of relative peace and prosperity, it is easy to become complacent and even careless when it comes to our responsibilities. With times, circumstances, environments, policies, and people constantly changing, what is required is continual inspection and stewardship of our workplace environments. One can never be too careful when it comes to workplace hazard prevention.

In an article entitled "Familiarity Breeds Success" in the March 2009 issue of Occupational Health & Safety, Linda J. Sherrard discusses the importance of avoiding complacency as it relates to workplace safety:

"Become familiar with the work environment and the language of potential hazards. This should be more than a once-a-month, 10 minute walk-through! It takes years to really learn a workplace and all the hazards to which employees may be exposed. "

Specifically, being aware of the need for and properly using personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential to workplace hazard prevention.

Are your employees wearing correct PPE?

Should your employees be wearing more PPE items?

Do your employees (including temporary employees, interns) understand specific hazards related to their jobs?

Do you have a process set up for employees and/or supervisors to request and replace PPE items?

Have you considered shared items (e.g., an employee may damage or break a faceshield and hang it back on the rack for the next employee to use)?

Have you considered glare as a hazard (Glare causes mishaps and injuries, fatigue, eyestrain, headaches, aggravation)?

When it comes to workplace hazard prevention, move beyond the basics. Don't just prepare enough to get by, even if your employees have been safe and injury-free as of late. And don't allow shrinking budgets to stand in the way of what is most important in the workplace: the safety of your employees and yourself. Take precautions, become familiar with all of the hazards in your workplace with which employees may be exposed, and take PPE seriously. You'll continue to discover successful results as a reward for your sustained efforts!

Related posts:

Top Ten OSHA Violations in 2008
Guide to Required PPE - Yours Free!
Safe Workplace Blog

The driving influence behind the latest labeling supply (as always) is you, the customer. We develop supplies because you provide the demand. Our motto might as well be "You demand it, we'll supply it."

The newest specialty supply is called UV Watermark Supply.

This new supply is unique in the fact that it uses fluorescing ink to imprint your image, text, or company logo directly onto label supply. As one of the more discrete security watermarks, the fluorescing ink becomes visible when exposed to a 350nm UV light source. This feature is useful for protecting from counterfeit labels. For example, manufacturers may discover they are offering warrantied services to products not under warranty. A UV Watermark Supply label would help manufacturers distinguish these products more easily.

UV Watermark Supply is currently available on ½", 1", 2", 3", and 4" vinyl. Fluorescing ink comes in clear or black.

UV Watermarking provides:

economic security

discrete security

reliability

asset control

At Graphic Products, it's called Supplies and Demand. We're prepared to provide supplies, so tell us your demand.

Related posts:

New DuraLabel Labeling Supplies - Fluorescent Labeling Supplies
Top Ten Reasons to Purchase a DuraLabel PRO 300

It is designed to endure exposures to "wave soldering" and commonly used acidic solvents. The topcoat and film provide a high Print Contrast Signal (PCS) for scanning high deposition and condensed bar codes.

Extended Life Vinyl is a thin grade of industrial vinyl only 2.6mil "thick" designed to apply to surfaces where moisture exposure is anticipated. The thin vinyl offers smaller horizontal surfaces, thereby preventing moisture from collecting on the edges. This reduces the tendency to peel. The thinner label design also allows for greater label flexibility, enhancing the supply's ability to better apply to uneven or curved surfaces.

UL® Label Supply is a durable poly supply specially designed for lasting service in manufacturing and many UL® 969 required applications. For example, UL® 969 requirements set specifications for labeling materials used for name-plates or markers bearing information, instructions or identification. This supply is to be used with DuraLabel's standard black ribbon.

High-Temperature Supply (700° F max) is a poly supply designed to withstand intermittent temperatures as high as 700° F and as low as -40° F. Made with a durable white topcoat, this supply is engineered for use on high-surface energy plastics like pipes and ducts.

Related previous posts:

Got Special Labeling Needs? They are all struggling to catch up... trying to figure out what to do next... copying the leader, but that's not enough because the leader keeps moving ahead.

When it comes to innovation and quality DuraLabel has moved to the front of the pack.

DuraLabel is the inventor of two-color continuous vinyl, a product that competitors are now trying to copy. Some have come out with two-color die-cut labels and they call them two-color vinyl. But two-color die-cuts are nothing new, and they are nothing like two-color continuous vinyl that allows you to determine the label size for each label.

DuraLabel is the inventor of two-color, low temperature wire wraps. Color coding of terminated wires and cables is now possible... and only with DuraLabel labeling supplies.

DuraLabel is the inventor of large format (super-sized) die-cut labels. Die-cuts as large as 6.8" x 10.5" provide single pass, economical, high speed printing of safety and notice signs. You get the professional look and durability of die-cut rounded corners, as well as the improved communication effectiveness of color.

Speaking of color, DuraLabel is the inventor of custom, multi-color labels and signs you can quickly and economically print using your monochrome DuraLabel printer. The competition requires that you purchase an expensive and slow color printer. On the other hand DuraLabel solved the color printing problems by keeping your needs in mind.

When it comes to innovation, no one is coming close to DuraLabel. Combine that with the huge savings you'll see with a DuraLabel printer, and the great values available when you purchase a DuraLabel Package Deal, and it's beginning to look like the competition isn't even in the same race.

Our business is making your job easier. We're here to save you money; to help you get your job done with fewer hassles, to save you time, and to do all this while improving the effectiveness of your visual communication. These are not idle boasts. This is what we have done for thousands of DuraLabel customers and what we continue to do every day as more and more people join the ranks of satisfied DuraLabel users.

Related Previous Posts
Custom, Multi-Color Labels
Big, Visible Industrial Signs
Print Multicolor Labels In A Single Pass

The guide outlines how to effectively create and display safety signs that meet OSHA and ANSI standards.

Get your free copy of the Best Practice Guide To: OSHA Safety Signs

The overarching goal of the guide is to promote safety in the workplace. Injuries and fatalities can often be avoided if machines, hazard areas, chemicals, and equipment are properly fitted with signs and labels. OSHA and ANSI standards exist (and frequently updated) for safety's sake.

This guide discusses hazard classifications commonly seen on safety signs: danger, warning, caution, biohazard, notice, and other safety messages. It explains visual communication through the use of safety symbols and pictographs on signs and labels. The guide serves as an excellent reference because it shows many examples of how safety signs should appear when in compliance with OSHA and ANSI standards.

An updated version of the free Arc Flash Information Guide is now available.

Along with addressing an important new requirement for arc flash labels, the Arc Flash Information Guide provides definitions of Limited Approach Boundary, Prohibited Approach Boundary, Restricted Approach Boundary, and Arc Flash Protection Boundary. The guide also defines Incident Energy, explains the energy level at which second degree burns occur, and conveys information about required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

For quick reference, the Arc Flash Information Guide cites specific NFPA 70E Articles, Tables, and Annexes associated with each definition or requirement.

The Arc Flash Information Guide serves as an important reference for creating new arc flash labels with your DuraLabel printer.

Get your free copy of the updated Arc Flash Information Guide for 2009.

And to help enhance safety in the workplace, Graphic Products recommends printing BIG arc flash labels (7" x 10.5" vs. typical 4" x 6"). In addition, as the result of studies of the evacuation of the World Trade Center, photoluminescent marking is being required by a growing number of municipalities.

Photoluminescent technology provides a way to clearly mark exit pathways and provide emergency information that will be visible in smoky conditions and when lights fail. Since no power is required, photoluminescent labels and signs provide a reliable and safe means to mark pathways, identify hazards, provide directions, and provide needed information during a power outage or an emergency.

A free white paper called: "Introduction to Photoluminescent Labels, Signs, and Path Markings" is available from Graphic Products. When a surface does not readily accept adhesives you have two alternatives... you can mechanically attach labels or you can turn to DuraLabel supplies.

Mechanical attachment means that nails, screws, bolts or some other mechanical means is used to attach the sign or label. This means that the label or sign must be capable of being attached mechanically (more expense); that a mechanical means of attachment is available (more expense); and additional labor must be used for installing the label or sign (still more expense). The best solution is to peel the backing off the label and stick it in place. But is this solution possible?

It is possible if you use DuraLabel supplies. DuraLabel supplies with hi-tack adhesive will get the job done, and get it done right. Whether you need to stick labels on wood, cloth, or low-energy plastic surfaces, DuraLabel hi-tack labeling supplies get the job done right. If you need to label rough surfaces, curved surfaces, textured surfaces or dirty surfaces, DuraLabel hi-tack labeling supplies get the job done right.

Available in four widths from one inch to four inches, DuraLabel hi-tack labeling supplies provide high-shear adhesion for superior bonding strength when labeling is required on difficult-to-adhere-to surfaces. This is sort of like kaizen, except using kaizen means being open to "New year's Resolutions" every day of the year.

Kaizen is a process in which suggestions for improvements are used, on a continuous basis, to improve a business, cut costs, improve quality, and develop new products. Kaizen means a continuous search for ways to do things better, faster, with higher quality and more efficiently. It is a continual iteration of: implement an idea, see how the new idea works, come up with a new idea, and repeat the cycle. Each idea is a small change to a process, facility, product and work practice. By continually making small changes the effect compounds to quickly bring big results.

How you you learn about kaizen and determine whether it is the right approach to help your business? We offer a free guide that will introduce you to kaizen. We don't sell kaizen services, but we do offer a free copy of our kaizen guide to help our customers improve their business because we know that our success depends on your success.
