Graphic Products Offers A Free Guide To 5S Standard Color Coding
Beaverton, OR – June 19, 2007 - A 5S Standard Color Code Guide, showing the color coding system commonly used with 5S, is available free from Graphic Products, Inc. There are no published standards for 5S color coding, but as a result of common use a defacto standard has developed.
5S is a lean manufacturing technique that uses a five step process to reduce waste, and improve quality, productivity and safety by establishing a an organized and clean workplace. It sounds simple, but 5S is a powerful tool that brings significant results and requires a relatively low investment.
The fourth step in the 5S process is called "Standardize". It involves putting into place practices, procedures and tools that will make it easier to sustain the benefits that have been achieved through 5S. A key component is the use of a color coding system.
