The fatality ticker scrolls atop OSHA’s website, serving as an ominous reminder that gravity is a force to be reckoned with. Slips, trips and falls may appear to be innocuous workplace accidents, but fatality reports prove what a deadly threat these are, and fall protection reflects this stark reality as OSHA's most-cited violation of 2015.

Graphic Products has compiled this harrowing data in a new infographic, OSHA's Top Ten Violations of 2015. The colorful graphic details how fall protection, hazard communication, and scaffolding hazards are among the agency's most-cited and repeat violations.

“It's frustrating that we see the same violations each year,” said Jeff Woods, Safety Compliance Analyst at Graphic Products. “In 2014, 4,679 workers died on the job, and that's 4,679 workers too many.”

“In 2014, 4,679 workers died on the job, and that's 4,679 workers too many.”

The infographic outlines the percentage change in citations, as compared to last year’s numbers, and provides a chronological ranking of violations on the top ten list dating back to 2011. Overall, data reveals that the total number of incidents were down 4.5% from 2014 and 11% from 2013.

“It's easy to focus on the negative, but safety managers should really give themselves a pat on the back as continuous improvements are being made,” Woods said. “It's a New Year, and safety should be at the top of everyone's resolution list.”
